Our patriarch turned the big 6-0 last week so naturally what do we to celebrate? Surprise the man! He was insistent on no surprise parties so we stayed true to that word. Instead Peg planned a whole surprise birthday weekend in Berkeley with just his nearest and dearest.

To say he was shocked and awed is an understatement.

I've decided that surprising people I love the most might be one of my favorite things in the world.
