Family Envy.

This past weekend was a culmination of anticipation/preparation/elation (and other related -tion words) for a reunion much, much too long in the making.

The girls on the Blinn side (minus one) all got together in Chicago and I don't think Chicago knew what to do. It's always fun to play a tourist in your own city because you get to see it through others' eyes.

A sight for sore eyes.

The cool thing about us is that I learned even though it'd been pretty much 14 years since seeing each other, it was as if no time had passed at all. We were all just a little older, a little classier and legal.

Highlights of the trip:
• Paisely Shoulders has an uncanny ability to read people's body language.
• Chicago means "smelly wild onions" in Native American
• Meghan thinks the Blackhawks flag is the Chicago state flag...
• Celebrity sightings can be found at low-key restaurants in Lincoln Park. [Edward Cullen to Meghan at dinner: "Thanks for letting me be a part of your memories"]
• Erin & I lead parallel lives - one in Chicago and one in Dallas.
• Caribou Coffee has the best napkins and coffee cups of all.
• Bridget looooves the zoo and can name any animal known to man. She's probably a walking encyclopedia.

I fell in love with my family and Chicago all over again - this much I know.

Taking a picture of Erin taking a picture of THE infamous Bean.

The black & white monkey that stared us down on Sunday morning.
Bridge could probably tell you its favorite food and favorite song.

Rye Whiskey?

Why yes.

It's really only fitting that this song is about whiskey and I enjoy it. New obsession:

No, But Really...

Meghan asked me if I submitted this to PostSecret:

I wish my answer could have been yes.

I'm Inspired start leaving notes in the airplane magazines.

Maybe I'll send subliminal messages to passengers so SkyMall's profits skyrocket.

"You know you've been looking for the perfect wine glass holder" and strategically place it next to:

This One Goes Out To:

My buddy, Liz!

She ran her first complete mile ever and I'm so proud of her. It's not an easy task, but it's so great to hear other people's successes.

Way to go, lady! Quite the milestone.

(You knew I had to put this on paper - it was that good)

Have You Ever Noticed...

how quick people are to tell you how very busy their life is?

I think it's human nature. Competition: to be busier, to be better.

I went to Denver this past weekend to visit Brother Bear and came back sleep-deprived, but calmer.

I consider myself a pretty calm person in the first place, but I know I can get worked up - though never on purpose. Ricky has always been the simplistic realist. He'll ask one question to my seven and his makes more sense than any of mine.

I can't decide if it's his impressive dance moves:

or if it's just his really pretty facial expressions:

But mostly,
I think it's that he just enjoys living. Embraces it.

So I think we should all dance like so and okay, you don't you have to make that face - but enjoy the challenges as they come. My challenge right now is that my right foot is currently asleep and I'm afraid to pull a Jerry Seinfeld.

Jerry stands up and begins limping.
George: "What's the matter with your leg?"
Jerry: "My foot fell asleep"
George: "How'd your foot fall asleep?"
Jerry: "I crossed my legs. I forgot to alernate."
