I never knew that Gatorade got its name from the University of Florida and its head football coach back in 1965. He merely suggested his players needed something more to help them get through practice and the games.

Though it was the Woodstock era, I can't believe drugs weren't the first thought. Oh wait - yes they were. Sodium tablets. Turns out those didn't get the deed done. A scientist at the University of Florida created the liquid concoction to aid the Gators.

You with me? AID the GATORs. Enter GATORADE.

Gatorade's held true to their originality while embracing change. Not an easy task.
